How does Contro’s service work?

Our service fee for our subscription services is R150 per month. This spreads out the cost of your doctor's consultation and prescription fees over periods of six months at a time. We also provide free delivery within that fee to anywhere in the country. A virtual consultation with one of our Partner Doctors for one of our once-off services is R300. This includes all doctor's fees, prescription fees and free delivery.PopularHow am I charged by Contro for my subscription plan?
All subscription customers are charged their first month’s R150 service fee at checkout. This is non-refundable. After a successful consultation, cash customers will be charged again for the price of their prescribed medication.Some readersHow do I cancel my order?

If you are a subscription customer and need an extra month’s worth of medication, for example if you're travelling or want to skip your period, please email us at support@contro.co.za and we can arrange for the delivery of an extra month’s worth of medication.Some readersWhich Medical Aids do you accept?
Our Partner Pharmacy accept all Medical Aids in South Africa. However, whether your provider covers the medication you have requested depends on your plan and funds. We cannot advise whether your scheme will cover your prescribed medication.Some readersDo I have to go for a check-up?
If you are one of our subscription customers, you must continue to see your primary doctor or GP throughout your Contro subscription for bi-annual check-ups. You must inform your assigned Partner Doctor with any changes in your physical or mental health as soon as you becomes aware of the change, to allow for your Partner Doctor to consider if changes need to be made to your ongoing treatment plan.Some readersCan I switch to the generic version of my prescribed medication to save money?
If you are a subscription customer and wish to switch to a generic of your prescribed medication, your assigned Partner Doctor will be happy to approve this change of your next repeat prescription subject to any medical qualifications.Some readersI took a break from Contro’s service, and I want to restart my subscription, can I get a repeat of my previous prescribed medication?
If you previously paused your subscription with Contro, you are able to re-start your subscription within 3 months of this date. If you paused your subscription longer than 3 months ago, you will be required to retake our secure online health questionnaire and attend another once-off consultation with one of our Partner Doctors in order to issue you a new prescription.Some readersDo I need an existing prescription to use your service?
No, you do not need an existing prescription to use our service. During your once-off virtual consultation, your assigned Partner Doctor will, if approved, generate a prescription for your requested medication or treatment.Some readersWhat payment methods can I use?
We accept all debit and credit cards which are either Visa or Mastercard, and have 3D secure enabled. Unfortunately we cannot accept any other methods of payment including cash. All payments must be made via our platform in order for an order and a prescription to be generated.Few readersCan I change my medication?
If you are a subscription customer and wish to change your medication to a cheaper alternative or because you are having side effects, you can query your prescribed medication by contacting your assigned Partner Doctor through our Customer Care Team at support@contro.co.za.Few readersWhy does my medication say it's the 'last repeat'?
If you're on one of our subscription services and your medication states it is the 'last repeat', no need to panic! Your medication will state on its box that it's your 'last repeat' because we send our Partner Pharmacy a new prescription every month rather than sending 6-month repeatsFew readersHow am I charged by Contro for my once-off treatment service?
A virtual once-off treatment consultation with one of our Partner Doctors costs R275. This includes all doctor's fees, prescription fees and free delivery. After a successful consultation, cash customers will additionally be charged for their prescribed medication. The treatment price will vary and will depend on which medication(s) your assigned Partner Doctor prescribes you. Our Partner Doctors will always work within your budget and ensure you get the best possible treatment available.Few readersWhat happens if my medical aid claim is rejected?
If your medical aid claim is rejected, our Partner Pharmacy will contact you to inform you. We will also reach out to you to confirm you are happy to switch to a 'cash' customer.Few readersCan I use my medical aid with Contro?
Yes, but only for your medication costs. If you are on one of our subscription services, medical aid customers are still required to pay our R150 service fee each month. If you have signed up for one of our once-off services, medical aid customers are still required to pay our R275 consultation fee at checkout. We are working hard to get the medical aids to cover this service fee.Few readersCan I switch from using my Medical Aid to paying cash?
If your Medical Aid has expired, ended or your funds have depleted, you can switch to being a 'cash' payer. To do this, simply update your medication payment method on you profile by electing 'cash'.Few readersWill the price of my subscription change?
The price you will pay for your medication is determined by the Department of Health’s SEP (Single Exit Price) for that specific medication. The SEP of your medication can be changed at any time by the Department of Health. This may impact the price of your subscription plan slightly month-to-month.Few readersCan I switch from paying cash to using my Medical Aid?

If you would like to receive treatment for more than one of our services (e.g. STI and UTI), you are required to create an order and complete checkout for each of the services you are requesting. No, for legal, ethical and safety reasons, our service can only be used by the person intending to take the medication. The account information must be provided by this individual, and this individual must attend the virtual consultation.Few readersI'm on a family Medical Aid plan. Can they see what I have ordered?
This is very much dependent on which Medical Aid scheme you and your family use. Unfortunately we cannot advise on specific schemes, and it is possible that your order and specific medication could be displayed on the holder's statement sent by the Medical Aid provider. The scheme's holder may also receive a notification informing them that funds have been used.Few readers
