What happens if I do not seek treatment for genital herpes?

If genital herpes symptoms are not treated, this can lead to long-term health effects and future outbreaks can become more severe. Genital herpes and other STIs are spread through close contact and sexual activities, therefore if not treated correctly, this can be passed on to your partner(s).

Complications from genital herpes can also happen if your immune system is weakened and the virus spreads to other parts of your body, including your fingers, skin, eyes, brain and spinal cord.
