What are haemorrhoids?
Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are swollen veins in the lower part of the rectum or anus. They can be internal, occurring inside the rectum, or external, occurring around the anal opening. Haemorrhoids can be a common condition and can be caused by straining during bowel movements, pregnancy, obesity, or prolonged sitting.
